Payment processing for retail

Retail runs on volume, and volume magnifies everything: a structure that misreads the counter by a few basis points is invisible on one sale and a real number across ten thousand. The counter deserves pricing built for repetition.

Typical card mixHigh counts, moderate tickets

Hundreds of daily transactions across debit, credit and mobile wallets, where per transaction cents compound as fast as percentages.

The Canadian differenceInterac at every counter

Interac does not exist south of the border, and systems built for the US often support it poorly or not at all. Canadian shoppers expect it, tap after tap.

The fixA Canadian team, Interac first

Work with a Canadian company that supports Interac at the lowest possible pricing and fits the agreement to your card mix, quoted in writing before anything changes.

Interac is the Canadian counter

Interac is central to how Canadians pay, and it does not exist in the United States. A system that looks good on paper, built for a US market, may support Interac badly or not at all, and your shoppers find out at the tap. A Canadian company that appreciates Interac and supports it at the lowest possible pricing is the safer choice for a Canadian counter.

The review reads your debit and credit volume separately, so each is priced as itself. What that means for your counter is quoted in writing before anything changes.

The counter, the shelf and the website

BC retail increasingly sells in two places at once: the physical counter and an online store, often on a shopping cart such as WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop, BigCommerce, Drupal Commerce, Zen Cart, X-Cart, nopCommerce or Shopify. The channels carry different interchange, different risk and different fees, and most retailers read them on two separate statements, which means nobody sees the whole cost of selling. We read them together and fit acquiring to the combined picture. Carts that let you bring your own gateway and merchant account, WooCommerce above all, give the review the most room to work.

Hardware that keeps the line moving

If you keep the point of sale your staff already know, the gains are on the agreement, the service and the hardware. We bring the newest terminals on month to month rental, programmed to deposit into your account, and mobile terminals for line busting on the days the lineup runs out the door, like the afternoon a cruise ship lets off.

If you are upgrading your POS, the speed arrives with the new system: tap first prompting, receipts that default to skip, terminals that talk to the till so nobody keys amounts twice, and the seconds per customer drop. We review your current deployment, then compare and demo the options with you before you choose.

December pays for February

Retail volume swings with the calendar: the holiday quarter can carry the year, and the post holiday trough tests every fixed cost. Payment agreements with monthly minimums and rigid fixed fees hit hardest in exactly the months a shop can least afford them. A retail agreement should be priced on the shape of the whole year, with fixed components negotiated against the trough, not the peak.

Returns matter too. Refund processing carries its own fee treatment, and a category with real return rates, fashion above all, should know what its returns column costs before signing anything.

Gift cards, wallets and what the modern till accepts

The modern counter takes more than cards: wallet taps from phones and watches, gift cards that are liability accounting as much as tender, and buy buttons that arrive from a website order for pickup. Each lands differently on the statement. We deploy with all of them mapped, so the till accepts what customers actually carry and the statement stays readable when they do.

Common questions

Most of our sales are Interac debit. Does that change the review?

Yes, in your favour. Debit heavy retail is where a Canadian company that supports Interac at the lowest possible pricing makes the most difference, and the review reads your debit and credit volume separately so each is priced as itself.

We sell online too. Can you review both?

Yes. If your store runs on a cart that lets you bring your own gateway and merchant account, such as WooCommerce, Magento or OpenCart, we read both channels together and fit the acquiring to the combined picture. If your online store runs on Shopify, we focus the review on your in store terminals, where the difference is.

Do we need new hardware?

In most cases, yes, and that is an upgrade. New terminals are programmed to deposit into your account, and we recommend month to month rental so you are always running the newest hardware and can change it as your business changes.

What does the statement review cost?

Nothing, and there is no obligation. Send a recent statement and we return the line by line read within 1 to 2 business days.
